What shower resealing involves
Resealing is the maintenance that keeps a sound shower sound. Every shower relies on a continuous seal at the wall-to-wall corners, the wall-to-base junction and around the screen. Those seals move, dry out and eventually let go — usually long before the tiles or the waterproofing do.
A proper reseal is not a fresh bead squeezed over the old one. The perished material is cut out completely, the joint is cleaned back to sound substrate, dried, and a new sealant is applied and tooled so it bonds on both faces and can flex with the building.
Done on schedule, resealing is one of the cheapest pieces of property maintenance there is. Left too long, the same joint becomes a water-damage claim.

Shower Resealing — frequently asked
How often should a shower be resealed?
It depends on use, ventilation and the original workmanship, but seals are consumable and should be inspected regularly. If the bead is discoloured, hard, split or lifting, it is due.
Can you seal over the existing silicone?
No. Applying new sealant over old is the most common shortcut and the most common failure. The old material is removed completely so the new bead can bond to the substrate.
Is resealing the same as regrouting?
No. Grout fills the rigid tile joints; sealant fills the joints that move — corners, the base junction and around the screen. Many showers need both, and we'll tell you which yours needs.
How long before I can use the shower?
Sealants need curing time before water contact. In most cases the shower is back in use the next day; we confirm the exact time at handover.
Will resealing stop my shower leaking?
If the leak is at a failed joint, yes. If water is passing through failed waterproofing behind the tiles, resealing will not stop it — we diagnose before quoting.
