The catch is cure time. Silicone needs around 24 hours before water contact for the seal to be reliable. Grout has a similar or slightly shorter window depending on the product. You'll have your bathroom back very quickly — but the shower itself usually needs to sit for a day.
For households with only one bathroom, this is worth planning for. Booking the job in the morning gives it the full 24 hours to cure before the next morning's shower. Same-day cure products exist but the reliability trade-off usually isn't worth it.
For rental properties, scheduling between tenants is ideal — the shower can cure without interrupting anyone.
